Airlines don’t make airfare mistakes very often, but when they do they can be whoppers and some lucky people are the beneficiary. Most people stumble upon good deals and mistakes — but this really doesn’t have to be the case. The FareCompare.com email airfare alerts is based on technology that processes the raw fare and rule information directly from the airlines and sends it to you hours before it is even loaded on the airline sites. |
This morning at 10:00am EDT ATA Airlines (owned partially by Southwest Airlines) filed what appears to be a mistake airfare from Orlando to Maui for $118 each way (see the ATA screen shot above). The travel period for this airfare is October and the normal price is $1118 each way (looks like a one was dropped from the front to me
)
Wondering if you can buy the mistaken price?
Yes, you can buy mistake fares and the airlines in theory should honor them. There have been mistakes however in the past where the airlines did not honor them. Sometimes it generates good press and they let it go, other times they decide to only honor some portion. The rules regarding an airline not honoring are a bit murky and leave lots of gray area.

Please help us with this Orlando to Maui booking on your site- at this price is the only way we could afford to go to Maui-Please Please
