I was just reviewing the 10am EDT domestic airfare distribution feed and noticed that United Airlines raised prices across the board to Honolulu by $20-$25. It is pretty unusual to see a single city targeted for an increase system wide, but it does happen from time to time… |
Other notable items in this mornings airfare report include:
- United is “tweaking” Northwest by lowering the price between Detroit and Minneapolis by $123 below the previous low of $351
- Northwest is “tweaking” Delta by lowering the price between Salt Lake City and Cincinnati by $119 below the previous low of $308
- US Airways is tweaking Continental by lower the price between Houston and Salt Lake City by $112 below the previous low of $340
Notice the volatility of the last 5-10 historical alerts (click on the links to go to our info page), it is obvious that a lot of “tweaking ” is going on in these cities (once as low as $78 roundtrip) — I wonder if this is form of smoke signals …
Update 12:30pm EDT Airfare Distribution:
US Airways and Continental both matched the increase on their Hawaiian routes.

Traveling to London August 2008. Could you tell me what would be a reasonable airfare? Should I buy now at around $1,000 or does your experience show that fares go down at a certain time of the year? Thanks.
