Okay, officially we made the list of the 7-Most Influential Travel Bloggers of 2007! How, you may ask? Because…well, go ahead and read what travel expert Chris Elliott had to say about us. I’m blushing. Better read for yourself. All I can say is, it had to do with our ability to find cheap airfare sales…before anyone else can. |
“Rick Seaney (Rickseaney.com). Take a few supercomputers crunching fare data, an irreverent attitude and right-on blogging instincts and what do you have? The guy behind Farecompare and the only corporate blogger to make this list.”
On reflection, though, I think we really made the list because of the sum total of what we are.
- We find you the cheapest airfares, first. Guaranteed. Use our Email Alerts and see for yourself.
- We care about your travel experience. Check out my blog for handy information about your rights, how to make family travel comfortable, and real insider tips for travel thats cheap, and trouble-free.
- We want you to be informed: an informed traveler is a happier traveler. And we give you the latest news-you-can-use on RickSeaney.com and on our, shall we say, more irreverent blog, StandardUprightPosition.com.
If you’re new to FareCompare.com, let me just say, “welcome to our site,” and this link will help you find your way around quickly and easily.
Before I started blogging, I read through years of history of several bloggers including Chris and those on his influential list. I was apprehensive about what could and couldn’t be said, what happens when someone flames you (or FareCompare) in a comment and dozens of other “What If’s” — all my apprhensions fell out of the wash as I started to find how much I enjoyed writing and of course playing with our databases of airfares and flight schedules.
Blogging is fun, liberating and time consuming so I know how much time and effort all those mentioned by Chris (and Chris himself) take — I salute them all and hope many more will start blogging soon …

Congratulations, Rick. I knew you when…now, my question.
There are 2 of us TRYING to travel from ILM to MXP to end up south of Florence, Italy in April. I only have enough miles for 1 of us to travel on miles (US AIRWAYS)and the other to pay.
Question: Would I be better off trying to fly out of NYC to Milan on USAIRWAYS and paying for ILM-NYC-ILM. I need to decide quickly as there are not too many freq. flyer seats available.
Please advise. Thank you so much!!

Congratulations, Rick! Your email alerts have been a real help! You deserve the success you are enjoying.
Now comes another question:
A friend is travelling from US to UK in a couple of weeks. He has just completed chemo and I am concerned about blood clots (he has been cleared to fly by his docs.) Can you advice me - I would like to try and get him some extra leg room … who should I approach?
Cheers!
Bru

My son is driving his handycap 77 year old father to Florida, but he has to return to work real fast. Is there any cheap way to get from Jacksonville, Fla. to Providence, R.I. on Feb. l8, 2008

How can a “blog” without an RSS feed be “Influential”??? You can get an RSS feed for the comments to a blog, but not the blog itself. hat doesn’t make sense. PATHETIC.

My wife & I have reservations to vacation on Maui from 5/6/08 to 5/11 then go to Kauai & stay until 5/18. We have enough flight miles to go round-trip SFO To OGG with Hawaiian Air, but, not enough miles to go between islands. Those we will have to pay cash for. When should we book these flights reservations; now or after the first of the year? Are the costs of flights to Hawaii going up after the first of the year?
