Cheap Airfare Sales for Caribbean + Creepy Ad Campaign

Spirit Airlines has a new sale posted on their website, with flights to various Caribbean islands for as little as $9 (before taxes, etc.).

They call it their M.I.L.F. Sale,for “Many Islands, Low Fares”. But that also happens to be a vulgar (not to mention offensive) blogging term for young men’s interest in attractive, older women.

No doubt the marketing department is enjoying the stir this has created. After all, it’s doing exactly what they wanted: it’s getting them some attention. And getting people looking at their cheap airfare sales.

  1. MILF isn’t a blogging term and it doesn’t have anything to do with blogs. Although I’m sure it’s used in blogs - as are many other crass acronyms.

    It was coined long before web 2.0 and brought to popular vernacular in the movie “American Pie”
