The following chart shows the cost of a gallon of jet fuel for the past 8 years (data provided by the Department of Energy). Fuel is one of the biggest expenses — if not the most — for operating an airline. This soaring increase would make anyone a bit skittish on their monthly budget. Luckily prices for airline tickets haven’t jumped 6 fold, but you can rest assured this does not bode well for cheap prices in 2008.
