That would have been more realistic. Old planes aren't as big a problem as skipped maintenance. The Airline History Museum has a 1049G Lockheed Super Constellation in TWA livery, and she looks like she came off the line last week. The foreign flag carriers are likewise. Best looking jetliner was the 727 in my view, and there were a few lookers over in the Asian countries. Most domestic aircraft, even the new ones, need new paint and polished windows, as well as a spruce up of the interior. Half of Delta's CRJ's at ATL were in sad shape needed paint. These aren't too old. SWA fleet looks good as do many other discounters. No excuses. These CEOs get mega salaries and then parachutes to screw up the company, while the safety of the traveling public is compromised. And now I hear FAA is being PRIVATIZED? In some ways it feels like we're going back in time 30 years or more. To when the choices were a lot fewer, and perhaps a lot worse. Following the mergers, we'll get to have the acquisitions, in which most of those independents still left flying will be sucked out of the sky and into the waiting hands of the Bigs.
