This morning, the Air Transport Association and the Airports Council International-North America (ACI-NA) released their forecast for summer travel this year. Not surprisingly, numbers are expected to be a bit down from last year: “‘For a variety of reasons, slightly fewer people will fly this summer and planes will be approaching 85 percent full,’ said ATA President and CEO James C. May.” Rising fuel prices have led to rising ticket costs, and we’ve already begun to see the first signs of softening demand for air travel. That being said, summer is still going to be a busy time for airlines, so don’t procrastinate on buying those airline tickets. Good deals will disappear quickly. |
