Oil is sky-high, airfare is getting expensive, and now we have to obey the Luggage Police when it comes to using the correct-sized carry-ons (see my handy chart). But there is some good news… More and more of us are getting to our destinations — on time. According to the latest figures from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, the overall on-time arrival rate for the 19-reporting airlines in May of 2008 was 79.0 percent. That’s better than April’s 77.7 percent, and beats May of 2007 as well. The honors for highest on-time arrival rate goes to Hawaiian Airlines with an on-time percentage of 88.9 (of course — great weather) and the worst performance was by American Airlines - with 67.3 percent. |

It doesn’t hurt that the great majority of Hawaiian Airlines flights are of under 30 minutes duration and within a hundred odd miles of their service hub in Honolulu.

US Air has been bragging about being in the first three or four for on time flights recently. We took a flight to Honolulu - left the gate at Phoenix and arrived (according to the pilot) 20 minutes early, Is it a bit of a stretch to gain forty minutes on a five and a half hour flight or is Us Air playing games?
