American’s Admirals Club Membership Fees Increasing

September 19, 2008 | Posted in: Airline Fees, American

A tip of the hat to the informative “One Mile At a Time” blog for pointing out that, “effective November 1, Admirals Club membership fees will be increasing by $50-75, or 5,000-10,000 miles. The details can be found here.”

Ben and I are on the same wavelength: is this really such a good time to be increasing fees on your best customers?

And now that one’s done it, what other airline clubs will follow the “hike the membership dues” dance – and when?

I long ago started using the Amex platinum for lounges (they recently added American), which carries a hefty fee but it looks better every day.

Let us know what you think – and what you’ll be doing — about renewing, or not renewing your membership.

Priority Pass is the way to go. For $400 you have unlimited access to airport lounges around the world, in even the most obscure airports. I highly recommend this if you travel for a living. Why stick with one lounge when you can have access to many.
