TSA Says, “Go Ahead, Slap Some Ads on Those Shoe Bins.”

November 4, 2008 | Posted in: DOT,Security

The imaginative folks at the Transportation Security Administrations (TSA) will allow airports to sell ads to put in those plastic bins we use – for shoes, jackets, laptopsyou know.

And why not? We’ve already seen them on everything from overhead bins to boarding passes, and goodness knows what else.

Anyway, the TSA is doing this as a way to upgrade their security checkpoint equipment.

If this seems like deja vu all over again, then you must live in LA or Denver or one of the other 12 cities where a year-long experiment on “bin ads” has been underway. The biggest advertiser so far: Zappos.com (they sell shoes and clothing online).
