I’ve never understood why airlines didn’t get into the gift card act earlier. I know some airlines have them but others, like United, still don’t. As a traveller, I would appreciate this as a gift.
I really noticed this when my sister’s fiancee tried to get a gift card for my sister to use toward a ticket on AC to PEK last year – I was shocked at what had to happen. Call center said they didn’t offer them. He went to the airport, to have them hand write the certificate/amount on old paper ticket stock. Hardly, acceptable, i thought, for a supposed world-class airline. I was worried they were not going to see this as valid – they did, but you’d think they could at least come up with a gift certificate that was computer printed with the proper AC branding on it.
