Discount Airline Discounts Airfares to ZERO in Hard Times

February 12, 2009 | Posted in: Airline News,Europe

What is Ireland’s Ryanair up to? I mean, besides offering one million FREE airfares to some lucky passengers?

They’re offering their employees – pay cuts. At least, they’re seeking them. Lean times have hit the lean airlines – and plenty of other European carriers. For example:

  • Ryanair: plans to cut 200 jobs, seek pay cuts from workers and remove 4 planes
  • Virgin Atlantic: may cut as many as 800 jobs
  • British Airways: cut 400 managers through voluntary severance

But back to the “zero” deal: the “free airfare” isn’t completely free – there are still various fees and taxes to be paid, but it’s a stunning deal nevertheless. You must book on Ryanair by Feb. 15. See all the details here.
