United – Latest Airline to Go “Cashless” in Cabin

February 27, 2009 | Posted in: Ask Rick,United

Starting March 23, United will start accepting credit and debit cards for snacks and anything else you want to buy onboard.

This is for flights within the U.S., and flights to/from Canada, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. Elsewhere, they’ll take cash or credit.

Cash-free is becoming all the rage – American is also switching to credit – joining Southwest, Frontier, JetBlue, AirTran, Midwest, Virgin America and Alaska.

Remember if you have a youngster traveling solo, make sure you pack some food for them.

And watch for more airlines to start parking in the no-cash zone.

I booked a hotel through priceline . I thought I got a great price at the Anaheim Crown Plaza . Of course you have to prepay , which I did . Upon arrival , I was told they charged a $12 per day, non -negotiable ” resort fee “, even though I am a business traveler, and had absolutely no interest in the resort . I paid , but complained to the front desk , because in the elevator is a sign that says contact us before you leave , if you are not totally satisfied , so we can correct any problem , and you will be satisfied . The front desk said they have nothing to do with the fee they charged me . So, I told them to take down the damn sign . I will not stay in a Crown Plaza , nor will I use priceline again .
