ABCNews.com — The Great Peanut Controversy, Continued

March 4, 2009 | Posted in: ABC Column,Ask Rick

As I wrote in my latest column for ABCNews.com:

“Wow! I’m still reeling. But that’s what happens when you get caught in the crossfire.” - Rick Seaney, ABCNews.com

That was a reference to all the comments I got on the “peanut post” I did a couple of weeks ago. Angry comments. Unusual comments.

I was intrigued, so – I dug a little deeper into the issue – and found more about why peanut allergies affect so many kids (one theory is, our children are “too clean” and don’t come into contact as much with germs that might build immunities).

However, no airline will act as “Peanut Police” – we checked with many and they all say, even if they don’t serve peanuts, they can’t prevent passengers from bringing them on board. Anyway, I think you’ll enjoy the column – and after reading it, you should be able to answer the question:

What kills more people each year, food allergies…or bee stings?
