British Airways to Begin Flights to Las Vegas

May 18, 2009 | Posted in: Airline News,Europe

Good news for Las Vegas, which has been suffering mightily in these rough, economic times: British Airways is coming!

I don’t suppose we can say, “coming to the rescue” but it certainly may help, and Las Vegas needs all the help it can get, with a 10% unemployment rate, and visitors to Sin City down nearly 9%.

However, BA’s new service won’t begin until October – when it will begin daily to/from flights between Heathrow and McCarran.

A British Airways spokesman indicated the airline should not have trouble filling the Vegas planes – and then he added, “We’ve got to get people moving again.” Absolutely. And since “Heathrow is where the world changes planes”, it seems like a very workable idea.
