Here We Go Again: Continental Hikes Bag Fees at Airport

July 22, 2009 | Posted in: Airline Fees, Bags, Continental

Well, Continental – join the crowd.

The airline is now also slapping another $5 on your checked-bag fee, if you check the bag at the airport.

You can avoid this fee, if you check the bag online — the price to check a bag online remains at $15 for the first, $20 for the second (and those prices are one-way).

BEST ADVICE: Others will follow – so if you will be checking a bag, just automatically check-in online (where possible). And see our Domestic Fee Chart for the latest changes.

Please check your Domestic Fee Chart page, as the ads on the right side of the page are covering up the far right column of your chart.

If I check in online and pay the fee for a checked bag, and then decide NOT to check the bag, do I get a refund of the fee?

    Alan,
I can’t speak for all the airlines but I looked up United’s policy and you can re-do the number of bags you check-in via UA’s online check-in up to an hour before you board. To be on the safe side, check with your airline’s website.
    Hope this helps,
    Rick
