Lufthansa Offers “Rainy Day” Vacation Insurance – Literally

August 5, 2009 | Posted in: Airline News,Europe,Storms,Weather

Here’s a very cool offer:

Germany’s Lufthansa says if the airline flies you to one of 36 destinations, and it rains during your time there – they will pay you! How does 20 Euros a day sound (about $29)?

The offer is good for cities where you might not expect much rain (Cairo, Madrid, Dubai) and it’s good for cities that regularly get drenched (New York, Washington).

They cap the payment at 200 Euros – or about (almost $289). A nice chunk of change that will come in handy for that umbrella you’ll have to buy – and all those museums you’ll be visiting.

See all the details here. Wow – I wish more airlines would jump on this particular bandwagon.
