How to Avoid Travel Snafus During G20 Summit in Pittsburgh

August 20, 2009 | Posted in: Ask Rick,Delays,News,Security

On Sept. 24 and 25, the big G20 Summit will take place in Pittsburgh – and schools will close, courts will close – but city officials say the airport will remain open.

Still, there will be more dignitaries in town than you can shake a stick at, from all over the world, so it only makes sense to follow these common sense guidelines from the airport (which includes good advice to follow any time):

  • 1. Leave extra early for the airport; may be road closures
  • 2. Use electronic ticketing and bag check-in to save time
  • 3. Be patient: expect extra long lines for security
  • 4. Watch out for protests – the G20 meetings attract them
  • Baseball fans, don’t worry — the Pirates will be playing their home games.
