Where do I sign up to protest this?! This is the last place on earth, it seems, that we can have cell-phone silence!
The person who sits next to me will NEVER be allowed to use his/her cell phone. I will never stand for that. NEVER.
If the airlines can charge for this they will get behind it.Remember it is all about the Money not the passenger.
As much as I would like the convenience, I think it’s not a good idea. In this day and time, people are just too selfish and inconsiderate. Too many would speak too loud and too long; thereby disturbing and infringing upon the space of their neighbor. Airline travel allows so little personal space and cell phone use would only cause friction and possibly violence amongst passengers.
True enough,, too many ignorant selfish idiots these days on planes who act like they have money and just don’t give a damn.. Those who do have great etiquette are those on business. Only because its business and not pleasure and have learned to be respectful since everyone is a potential customer or allied.
I do beleive its a great idea if everyone was a bit quiettalking on teh fone.. I used to use teh Satellite fones on the planes on Air Canada. But I remeber those who chat away in teh subway or on teh transit buses let everyone known what their discussion is all about.. I think the negative outways the positives.
I’ve always known that airlines are full of Bull**** when it comes cell phone interference with their radio telecommunications since it on a totally difference frequenecy and the antenna is on the nose and not in the bacl of teh plane.
I like to add Air Canada and Westjet are price gouging Canadians.
Canadians close to the american Borders, Use Orbitz, expedia.com, Allegiant Air (Bellingham-vancouver, bangor-Moncton), Spirit airlines, Southwest airlines.
stay away from westjet and air canada
Texting…yes. Talking….NO WAY! I sleep on flights and like it that way. This would be worse than a screaming baby. (and I understand those as a mother of a child who started to fly at 6 months of age…lucky for us and the others on the flights we only had one short incident) People talk too loudly and can you imagine a bunch of bored people yackin away? AKKKK! I’d fly on the wing! Bring back the smoking
I’ll blow it in their faces.
I’m with Garrett (post of 9/16). The person may attempt it, but their conversation will not be a pleasant one. I think Michael Douglas played the part of the guy who was, “Mad as H___, and not going to take it anymore”. Inconsiderate and arrogant users will create problems, which are much easier eliminated by preventing the occurence from happening in the first place, keeping with a “No phone” policy.
Bryon,
The actor you’re thinking of was the late Peter Finch, in one of my favorites movies, “Network”.

I agree with Nancy. They could allow texting, but PLEASE, no talking on cell phones. I really don’t want to know all the personal details of the lives of everyone for four seats in each direction. On an airplane, even if you know that it is more courteous to excuse yourself and take your phone call somewhere else, OOPS, there isn’t anywhere to step outside! Besides, I don’t like flying much, so I generally take a Xanax before boarding and try to sleep once we get up in the air.
I have a cell phone. I use it occasionally, never coming near my 450 minutes. But, I wouldn’t want to be without it.
However, cell phones on planes is the WORST idea I can imagine, as almost everyone hates hearing other’s conversations.
Don’t allow it, ever.
