Airline Seat Shortage Coming — See My ABC Column

September 23, 2009 | Posted in: ABC News, Airfare Increases, seats

You know the airlines are cutting seats – they’re really slashing away at them (and if you don’t know this, take a look at my latest chart to see how many passenger seats your city has lost).

What this means to you: First, a seat shortage likely means a rise in prices – and second, it could ultimately lead to rationed flying. At the very least, it could make finding last-minute flights, a whole lot harder.

Practical tip: Don’t volunteer to be “bumped” from your flight, unless the airline can guarantee that you’ll be on the next flight, as opposed to the next available flight. Unless, of course, you have all the time in the world.

There’s lots more — in my latest weekly column for ABCNews.com.
