Kudos to Crew Member that Turned in Allegedly Drunk Pilot

Kudos to the crew of United flight 949.

According to reports, the pilot of this London to Chicago flight – who had allegedly been drinking – was turned in by a crew member and subsequently arrested at Heathrow earlier this week.

Apparently, the 124 passengers on board were merely told the captain was “sick” – and they were later sent off to Chicago on other flights.

Yes, this is rareand yes, United has one of the strictest “bottle-to-throttle” alcohol policies in the industry.

But once in awhile, the inexusable happens – allegedly – and whether it turns out that the crew member was right or wrong, I’d like to thank him or her for acting on their suspicions, whether it was out of a sense of duty – or a sense of self-preservation.
