Airline Co-Stars in New George Clooney Film “Up in the Air”

November 17, 2009 | Posted in: Airline News,Frequent Flyer,Multimedia

I’ve heard of product placement in films before, but nothing compares to American Airlines constant presence in George Clooney’s new movie, “Up in the Air”.

Of course, flying – and American – does play a big part in this picture.

Clooney’s character is a “downsizing consultant” who flies all over the country to fire people, while at the same time, is trying to rack up ten million frequent flier miles – oh, and not just any frequent flier miles – these are miles in American’s AAdvantage program.

The Los Angeles Times explains:

“In Hollywood, this is called a ‘marketing partnership,’ which has already created dozens of movies with feature roles for soft drinks, fast-food chains and cars, like the racy Aston Martin that appeared in the James Bond thriller ‘Quantum of Solace’.” -LA Times, 11-14-09

I found this “Up in the Air” trailer on YouTube – notice all the Americana. In theaters next month.
