Woman Fears Boss will Miss Flight, So She Calls in Bomb Threat

November 27, 2009 | Posted in: Delays,Security

How not to be helpful:

According to news reports, a Florida woman has been charged with calling in a bomb threat in the hopes of delaying an American Airlines flight from Miami to Honduras.

Claudia De La Rosa allegedly told police that she caused her boss to be late heading out to his flight, and she apparently thought she could “fix” this by both calling and emailing in a bomb threat – in the hope of delaying the flight.

That part worked well – the flight was delayed as authorities searched the aircraft for a nonexistent bomb. The part that didn’t work so well – police traced the threat to the woman’s computer.

She’s in trouble now – and I have no idea if her boss made that flight.

    Matt,
I’m not sure; do you suppose this is a case for the Darwin Awards (or at least honorable mention)? http://www.darwinawards.com/
    Thanks for writing,
