Airline Speed Dating?

“Consolidation is one of the major ways this industry can become profitable,” said US Airways CFO Derek Kerr, at the Reuters Travel and Leisure Summit. He also said, his airline is open to a merger with a U.S. airline.

Okay. At that same summit, United’s CFO, Kathryn Mikells said UA is also interested in a merger.

According to Reuters, the two had talks about merging in 2008, but nothing happened, as was the case when UA pursued talks with Continental. So who knows what’ll happen.

Still I can’t help but wonder – do I hear wedding bells?
